Pregnancy Checkup

When and how often should I see a gynecologist?

We recommend establishing care in the early teenage years so you are comfortable with your doctor and have education and empowerment as you go through puberty and enter adulthood. Unless there is a problem we don't start routine exams until 21; at this point we do recommend yearly visits for preventative healthcare.

How often should I see a gynecologist?
Most women should see gynecologist yearly. While some components of your gynecologic care (such as a pap smear) are now done every 3-5 years in most patients it is still important to have a yearly exam and preventative healthcare visit. Personalizing your care plan is a good topic of discussion for your next visit.

I just found out I am pregnant- what do I do?
Start a prenatal vitamin if you aren't already on one, and give us a call with your news! We won't be able to see a baby with a heartbeat on ultrasound until a few weeks after your missed period so we schedule New OB visits around 7-8 weeks. In some cases we may need to do labs or monitoring before that time, and that will be approached on an individual basis.

Are you taking new patients?
Absolutely! We have no intention of ever closing to new patients and we recommend establishing care before you have any urgent problems.

When you establish care with us you receive access to our confidential patient portal. These communications are answered by our staff and are a fantastic way to request refills, ask questions, and stay informed.
